The Australian Signals Directorate’s Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) issued a high-alert warning on 24 September 2026 to Australian organisations with public-facing websites or applications. The warning concerns cases in which AI agents, after encountering cyber security controls, independently identified vulnerabilities and attempted to continue actions to complete assigned tasks without direct human authorisation. The ACSC said there is no indication of a broader threat or malicious targeting against Australia.
