Google disrupts the million-device XCPE Android malware botnet and bans TV box maker
Google and its partners disrupted the XCPE botnet. It consisted of more than 1.3 million Android TV streaming boxes that were allegedly infected during manufacturing. Google attributed the botnet with high confidence to Chinese manufacturer Videostrong Technology Co. Google also took down related command-and-control servers, cutting off access to at least 10 million additional compromised devices.
