Scammers use AI-generated images of missing pets to extort owners

Scammers contact pet owners after finding missing-pet posts on social media or local websites. They send AI-generated images, claim to have found the animal, and demand money as a reward, for emergency treatment, or for the pet’s return. In some cases, they threaten to sell or harm the animal.
